Recruit boosts Dockers potential

The West Australian

Earlier this year when Fremantle were linked to a host of big names, Ross Lyon was asked about the club’s potential recruits for 2016.

He played a straight bat to most of the questions, but when Harley Bennell’s name was raised, he couldn’t stop himself and said he’d love him because he’s a star.

Lyon met Bennell before the club completed the trade and he’d be licking his lips at the thought of the West Australian playing in the midfield.

Fremantle will now start 2016 with a midfield that comprises Nat Fyfe, David Mundy, Stephen Hill, Lachie Neale and Bennell. Toss in Michael Barlow, Nick Suban and Danyle Pearce and Fremantle have talent to burn.

Fremantle Dockers secure Harley Bennell in trade

FREMANTLE has secured the services of troubled Gold Coast midfielder Harley Bennell after agreeing to a trade with the Suns.

The dynamite midfielder — sacked from the Suns after drug and alcohol transgressions — was traded home to Western Australia along with draft pick 22 in exchange for picks 16 and 35.

Bennell, 23, was given a three-year contract after passing a series of interviews with Docker powerbrokers, including coach Ross Lyon and a medical screening.

Bennell pledged to “knuckle down” over pre-season after 92 games with Gold Coast.

Trade Winds: Crows may swoop on Magpie

Collingwood midfielder Paul Seedsman was thought to be weighing up his future with North Melbourne and Gold Coast, but Adelaide is now a big chance to snare him, according to the Herald Sun.

It is reporting that the Crows might offer the Pies a deal for Seedsman that will see them bolt to the front of the chasing pack.

As expected the Crows threw all their energy into getting Patrick Dangerfield to Geelong, but now that transaction has been dealt with, they've turned their attention to Seedsman.

A DEAL that would land Greater Western Sydney midfielder Adam Treloar at Collingwood is inching closer to fruition.

AFL.com.au understands the possible deal may involve the Magpies handing over two first-round draft picks, from 2015 and 2016, to the Giants in exchange for Treloar and a second-round selection.

The 22-year-old is one of the game's most promising players and has played 79 games in his four years with the Giants.
