It was a busy day on the injury front for Fremantle as they fell in a 58-point loss to St Kilda on Sunday at Blundstone Arena.

As well as midfielder Adam Cerra being a late out with a corked thigh, Sam Switkowski was substituted off at half time and Sean Darcy and Alex Pearce both finished the game on the bench with injuries.

Speaking to the media post-game, Longmuir said the nature of Switkowski’s injury was still unknown.

The small forward looked to be in significant pain following a brilliant chase and tackle effort that helped set up a goal in the second quarter.

“Switta, we’ll have to get it scanned. He’s done something to his hip,” Longmuir said.

“We’re a little bit unsure on what it is but it looked pretty painful. Once he stood up from that tackle, he couldn’t go again.

“We’ll just need to get him home, get it scanned. It could be a range of different injuries.

“We think he’s escaped bone injury in his hip, which is good news, but it could be a number of different things.”

Longmuir said Darcy had sustained a hip flexor strain while Fremantle were conservative by taking Pearce off late in the game.

“Sean had a hip flexor strain, so he would have missed the next couple of weeks if we were still playing,” Longmuir said.

“Alex Pearce, he just has a sore heel, which came up during the week.

“He was sore leading into the game, it just got to a point in the last quarter where we didn’t need to risk him anymore, so that’s why he was taken off.”

Longmuir said Adam Cerra was given every chance to play after sustaining the cork injury in the RAC Derby.

Cerra underwent a fitness test in Hobart on Saturday, where it was decided that he would not play.

“(Cerra) had a corky out of the Derby, which he’s been sore with all week,” Longmuir said.

“We thought he was 50-50 so we brought him over here but he didn’t manage to get up.

“There’s nothing sinister in it, he legitimately had an injury that he couldn’t play with.”
