DOB: 16 March 2003 (18)
POSITION: Mid / Forward
DRAFTED FROM: Subiaco
Matthew Johnson is a highly talented midfielder from Subiaco.
Ball in hand he is all class; evasive, composed and a beautiful kick of the football.
At 192cm, he is a great size for a midfielder and can use that height to his advantage around stoppages and in the air.
He is an exciting athlete, testing third fastest nationally for agility at the draft combine and also recording top 10 finishes in the vertical jump and running jump tests.
He made his WAFL league debut for Subiaco in Round 5 and managed three league games for the year and also dominated a WAFL reserves final with 27 disposals (18 contested), nine clearances and three tackles to help his side qualify for the grand final.
Matthew was also named Best on Ground in the WA v SA U19 Championship clash (AFL Grand Final day curtain raiser on Optus Stadium) with 20 disposals, five clearances and nine tackles to round out an impressive season.
