Fremantle will make one change for Saturday’s Indigenous Round clash with Adelaide at Fremantle Oval, with Amy Franklin returning for her second career AFLW game.

The Club’s first pick in last year’s AFLW Draft will replace forward Roxy Roux who will miss the clash after sustaining a hamstring injury in Freo’s round seven fixture against Carlton.

Franklin kicked two goals on debut against the Western Bulldogs earlier this season, however, the key forward sustained a concussion late in the match which led to her missing the next two games against North Melbourne and Carlton.

Senior Coach Trent Cooper said it was great to see Franklin return to the line-up.

“It’s great to have ‘Franky’ back, with the short turnarounds she missed two games (through concussion), but she has trained really well and is a good replacement for Roxy Roux this weekend,” Cooper said.

“It couldn’t be a bigger stage, to be taking on the top team over the course of the competition’s journey as well as the team on top of the ladder right now – especially in Indigenous Round at Freo Oval.

“All four of our Indigenous players will be playing on Saturday, and we are looking forward to the big occasion.”

Reigning AFLW fairest and best winner Kiara Bowers was expected to return to the line-up after missing the previous two games through suspension, however, will miss the clash with minor knee soreness.

Head of Football Operations and Performance Bob Murphy said a return to play date for Bowers would be decided upon next week.

“Kiara tweaked her knee during a training drill earlier in the week and will therefore miss this weekend’s game against Adelaide,” Murphy said.

“Scans have cleared Kiara of any significant damage, which is obviously, really good news.

“Her knee is still being assessed and we will see how the knee settles before developing a return to play date early next week.”

Bouncedown for the clash is at 12:10pm WST, with the game broadcast live on 7Mate and Fox Footy, while also being streamed live on Kayo and the official AFL Women’s app.
