Fremantle midfielder Nathan O’Driscoll is the Club’s first debutant of 2022, named as the medical sub for Fremantle’s round two clash against St Kilda at Optus Stadium on Sunday.

There are no late changes to the Fremantle line-up, while St Kilda have designated forward Cooper Sharman as their medical sub.

Drafted at no.27 in 2020 as an exciting midfield talent, O’Driscoll looked at home in Fremantle’s engine room with a strong showing in his first taste against AFL opposition in a pre-season practice match win over West Coast last month.

Immediately following the practice match, O’Driscoll was lauded by teammates Andy Brayshaw and Lachie Schultz for his performance in the side.

“Nathan O’Driscoll as well impressed me, he’s just come into the side and is playing a role, but he was really composed,” Brayshaw said.

“For ‘Drizzy,’ he played his first game, I thought he really stood up today and he didn’t look out of place at all. It looked like he belonged,” Schultz said.

“He’s another young gun coming through and it’s exciting to see what he’s going to be able to bring.”

The versatile second-year player has impressed over the summer, enjoying a mix of midfield and wing, after being used off half-back for Peel last year in an injury-interrupted first season in the AFL system.

If he is activated as the substitute, O’Driscoll and his sister Emma will become just the second brother-sister combination to represent Fremantle on-field, after Joel and Mikayla Western (who was an AFLW top-up player against Melbourne in round nine) achieved the feat only a few weeks ago.

O’Driscoll ticks off the final name of Freo’s 2020 draft class to make their debut, following in the footsteps of Heath Chapman, Brandon Walker, Josh Treacy and Western.

Bouncedown is at 3:20pm, with the game broadcast live into Perth on 7Mate and nationally on Fox Footy, as well as on Kayo and the official AFL app.
