Fremantle and Richmond fans will be able to donate to the Victorian Bushfire Relief Fund this Sunday night when the teams clash at Subiaco Oval in Round 1 of the NAB Cup.

NAB will have WA-based staff members present at all gates pre-game accepting donations, with all contributions going directly to the Victorian Bushfire Relief Fund.

In addition to the NAB staff offering their services to this worthy cause, members of the WA Fire and Rescue service will join them outside Subiaco Oval to collect donations for the Bushfire Appeal. The WA Fire and Rescue servicemen will be dressed in uniform in a show of solidarity for their counterparts currently battling the blazes in Victoria.

“The Fremantle Football Club sincerely encourages all members and supporters of not just our club but those across the AFL to make a donation to the Victorian Bushfire Appeal Fund by ringing 1800 811 700, by visiting redcross.org.au or by making a donation on game day this Sunday,” Fremantle chief executive officer Steve Rosich said.

Football fans are urged to support this cause by donating their loose change in the Red Cross tins that will be provided around the ground on Sunday evening.

Although on the other side of the country to the disastrous events in Victoria, Fremantle will show that the club’s thoughts are well and truly with those affected by the bushfires. Fremantle’s players and coaches will wear black arm bands and will invite the crowd to join them in observing a minute’s silence prior to the club’s NAB Cup game against Richmond on Sunday at Subiaco Oval. Following the minute’s silence, the National Anthem will be played.
