Fremantle ruck Sean Darcy and midfielder Caleb Serong have been listed as a test for Saturday night’s Starlight Purple Haze Game, proudly presented by South32, against GWS at Optus Stadium.

Darcy narrowly missed out on the weekend’s RAC Derby win after sustaining an ankle injury in round two, while Serong was also absent from the West Coast clash after dealing with knee soreness in the lead-up to the match.

Executive General Manager of Football Peter Bell provided the latest on the pair in the Perth Radiological Clinic injury update on Tuesday.

“Sean has made tremendous progress and he was very close to being available for the RAC Derby,” Darcy said.

“We are expecting him to fully train tomorrow and, he will be available for selection against the Giants.

“Caleb is also going well, he has just got some knee soreness which has responded really well over the past few days.

“We will see what he is available for tomorrow at training, and that will obviously dictate his availability (for Saturday’s game).”

Fremantle midfielder Darcy Tucker is recovering well after a scary incident in the RAC Derby, but will miss this weekend in line with the AFL’s return to play concussion protocols.

“Darcy enters the concussion protocols after that unsettling incident in the RAC Derby,” Bell said.

“He is going really well, but obviously there is a process now that we have to adhere to.”

Meanwhile, skipper Nat Fyfe has been ticking off rehab milestones on his return journey from back surgery.

“Nathan is making steady progress from his back injury,” Bell said.

“He will just be steadily ticking off milestones, and we will give some clarity in terms of a return to training date when that becomes available.”
