Sydney will have the prized first selection in the 2022 NAB AFLW Draft, with Hawthorn to have the initial selection in the Victorian portion of the state-based draft.

As the AFLW competition is part-time, players nominate which state they wish to be drafted in, limiting clubs to drafting within their own state.

Fellow expansion clubs Port Adelaide and Essendon round out the top four, with the quartet then picking again.

The first non-expansion selection is West Coast with pick No.14, and the Eagles have received back-to-back picks after finishing last with just one win this year.

The first round will run to a massive 36 selections, with Adelaide, Brisbane and Melbourne forfeiting their first-rounder after not losing the requisite points value to expansion clubs.

Collingwood, Geelong, GWS, Richmond and the Western Bulldogs do not have a second-round selection.

Hawthorn has received seven first-round selections, followed by Sydney with six, Port Adelaide with five and Essendon with four.

Picks 1-13 cannot be traded.

St Kilda has also received an additional first-round selection (forfeiting its third-rounder in the process), having won five games in the past two years.

Gold Coast was one of a number of clubs to have applied for special assistance, but has finished up with an end-of-second-round selection.

Finalists Fremantle and North Melbourne do not have a third-round selection.

The final draft order will be determined after the Sign and Trade Period – which opens on Tuesday at 2pm – closes next Wednesday.

The draft will take place on Wednesday, June 29.
