Fremantle AFLW star Ebony Antonio will be sidelined for an extended period after scans confirmed a posterior cruciate ligament injury to her right knee.

The winger/forward is expected to be sidelined for the next 8-10 weeks.

Antonio was helped from the ground in the first quarter of Saturday’s pre-season clash with West Coast at Fremantle Oval, landing awkwardly after executing a smother.

Head of Football Operations and Performance Bob Murphy said the outcome was disappointing for Antonio.

“The injury is incredibly frustrating for Ebony who was preparing to play her 50th AFLW game in round one against Brisbane,” Murphy said.

“We hope to see Ebony play a part in the second half of the season, but until then we will wrap our arms around ‘Epps’ in hopes for a quick recovery.”
