Fremantle have led all AFL teams with a Club record four players in the 2022 AFL Players 22under22.

Andrew Brayshaw, Hayden Young, Jordan Clark and Caleb Serong were all voted into the final 22 from Fremantle’s five nominations.

The naming of the 22under22 further highlights the depth of Fremantle’s young core. It comes after Nathan O’Driscoll was nominated for the 2022 NAB AFL Rising Star for round 23, joining Heath Chapman and Brandon Walker as his fellow Freo nominees this year.

When including Michael Frederick, who was named in the 40-player squad for the 22under22, that makes a total of eight young players recognised in various awards for their stand out performances in 2022.

In addition, Brayshaw was voted as captain of the team, going with his vice captain honour in 2021.

He was selected in 95 per cent of the teams, the second most of any player, and named in the midfield.

Named in the back pocket, Young was selected in 82 per cent of teams, the seventh most of any player.

Clark was named on the half forward flank while Serong is on the interchange.

It is Brayshaw’s third time in the 22under22, Young’s second and the first for Clark and Serong.

Behind Freo, Sydney and Collingwood had the third most representatives in the 22under22 with three each, which Freo’s three rising star nominations lead the league alongside Essendon.
