Fifteen Fremantle players lined up for Peel Thunder in Sunday’s 92-point win against of Swan Districts at a Lane Group Stadium on Sunday.

Fifth took on sixth in a must-win clash to play finals footy. The Thunder took control at the first break and never looked back during the comfortable 18.20 (128) to 5.6 (36) effort.

Despite a dominant first term, Peel could only put three goals on the board after the Swans got the first, with Freo forwards Sam Sturt, Matt Taberner and Lloyd Meek all booting majors.

They soon ran away with the contest however, courtesy of a nine goal second term, and twenty-two scoring shots to two at the half saw the Thunder hold a 70-point lead.

Peel controlled much of the remainder of the contest to cruise a 56-point lead at the final change before going on to victory, as Sturt and Meek finished with four and three goals respectively.

The experienced heads combined with the young stars to win the midfield battle for Peel all day long with Mitch Crowden (38), Neil Erasmus (32), Connor Blakely (31) and Hughes (30) all hitting the 30 disposals mark.

Taberner, Josh Treacy, Travis Colyer and Ethan Hughes also bagged multiple majors on a day where midfielders and forwards dominated for the Thunder, who went inside-fifty an incredible 65 times.

Despite a quiet afternoon in the back half, the defence stood tall when required and provided plenty of marking and running ability off half back.

Veteran Freo defenders Nathan Wilson and Joel Hamling plucked 17 marks between them, while Karl Worner also shone by foot with 24 touches and 10 marks.

Wilson said it was a good win and was excited for finals to kick off next week. Peel will face South Fremantle in an elimination final on Sunday 11 September at 12.10pm.

“What we’ve been doing the last few weeks has worked, so we’ll just keep it simple, keep to the basics and hopefully get the chocolates.”

“I thought the boys showed out all day today, and they’ll need to do that next week because we’re playing a good side, and we can’t wait.”

The win was the most important of the season for the Thunder to date, who begin their finals campaign with an Elimination Final against South Fremantle next Sunday at Fremantle Community Bank Oval.
