Fremantle have completed their second trade of the Continental Tyres AFL Trade Period, with Griffin Logue and Darcy Tucker heading to North Melbourne along with a swap of future draft selections.

Freo will receive North Melbourne’s future second and third round priority picks that they were allocated as a part of an assistance package from the AFL, as well as a future fourth round selection.

North Melbourne receive Fremantle’s future third round selection as a part of the pick swap.

Griffin Logue was an uncontracted player for next season, while Tucker had one year left on his contract with Fremantle.

Head of Player Personnel David Walls said it was disappointing to see Logue depart, with the versatile tall being a key contributor both in the forwardline and defence.

“Griffin was a highly valued member of our team, as shown in the Doig Medal where he finished sixth this year,” Walls said.

“Given he was uncontracted and North Melbourne had the ability to take a player like Griffin in the pre-season draft, we feel we have achieved a reasonable deal under the circumstances.

“We are also excited about the talent that is available in next year’s draft, so we are pleased to strengthen our hand for 2023.”

WALLS: Freo's forward thinking, and why Lobb is 'so crucial'

Tucker departs after playing 108 games for Fremantle between 2016 and 2022, including 14 in 2022.

Walls thanked Tucker for his efforts in the purple for the past seven seasons.

“Darcy was in and out of our team in 2022, and given the depth we have in our midfield, we understood his desire to seek a trade,” Walls said.

“We were happy to facilitate Darcy’s move to North Melbourne and we wish him and Griffin all the best at their new club.”

The Continental Tyres AFL Trade Period will run through to Wednesday 12 October.
