Kiara Bowers has added yet another AFLW All Australian squad selection to her long list of accolades, continuing a run of five straight seasons in the squad.

After a slower start than normal to Season 7, Bowers stormed home in the second half of the season to sit amongst the competition’s best players once again.

The 2021 AFL Women’s best and fairest winner led the competition in Season 7 for average clearances and tackles per game, and placed top ten in average metres gained, contested possessions and kicks per game.

Renowned for her tackling prowess, Bowers laid a phenomenal 146 tackles this season, an astounding 53 more than Adelaide’s Ebony Marinoff who was ranked second.

This was capped off by a record-breaking 22 tackles in Freo’s final game of the season against Hawthorn, taking the mantle of the most tackles laid in a single game.

It wasn’t her only feat, recording the all-time highest AFLW fantasy score with 184 points in the same match against the Hawks.

The final team of 21 – as well as the captain and vice-captain – will be announced at the W Awards on Tuesday 22 November.
