Janelle Cuthbertson has informed Fremantle she will depart the Club as a part of the AFL Women's Priority Signing Period.
 
The former tennis player was drafted at no.81 in the 2019 AFLW Draft and played 24 games over four seasons.
 
Head of AFLW Bob Murphy thanked Cuthbertson for her contributions to the Club.
 
“Janelle has been a great servant of the Fremantle Football Club,” Murphy said.
 
“There’s no doubt she’s had a hard time with injuries in recent seasons and we understand her desire for a fresh start.
 
“While we’re sad to see her go, we wish Janelle well on and off the field.”
 
The AFLW’s Priority Signing Period starts on Wednesday 1 March, and allows the league’s expansion clubs Essendon, Hawthorn, Port Adelaide and Sydney to sign players without trades.
 
Those who have spent three seasons on AFLW lists are eligible to be signed under the PSP, with the Bombers able to sign two, three for the Hawks and Power and the Swans having the ability to add five.
 
The 14 remaining clubs have limits on the number of players they can lose via PSP.
 
Clubs that finished 9th-18th, including Fremantle as well as Gold Coast, GWS, St Kilda, Carlton, West Coast can lose no more than one player.
 
It means Cuthbertson will be the only Fremantle player to depart during the PSP.
 
Clubs that finished 1st-4th post-finals in Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, North Melbourne can lose no more than five players.
 
Clubs that finished 5th-8th post-finals in Collingwood, Richmond, Western Bulldogs, Geelong can lose no more than two players.
