In late 2023, a referendum will be held to determine whether an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice to Parliament should be enshrined into the Australian constitution.

It is the view of the Walyalup Football Club’s Board that a Voice will provide appropriate representation to Parliament and be a step in the right direction towards a more reconciled Australia.

Our Club’s core business is football, but we also have a significant opportunity to support the community we work within by sharing the Board’s support of important social matters.

In our short history, we have had more games played by First Nations players than any other AFL Club.

The continuous and ongoing connection our Club has with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander representatives since inception allows us to keep learning, recognising, and celebrating First Nations culture, and has shaped our Club for the better.

Our RAP External Advisory Committee has been a wonderful support as we formulated our position, in addition to the valuable guidance they provide on our broader reconciliation journey.

While the Board supports a First Nations Voice to Parliament, it is important to acknowledge that others will have alternate views and we respect those views.

We encourage our members and supporters to arrive at their own educated and informed position ahead of the referendum and have provided some resource links below to assist in the sharing of knowledge on this topic.
