Brennan Cox and Karl Worner have been ruled out of Saturday’s clash with Collingwood at the MCG.

Both Cox (ankle) and Worner (calf) sustained injuries in Fremantle’s loss to Carlton at Optus Stadium on Sunday.

High Performance Manager Phil Merriman said Fremantle were waiting for results of scans to determine a timeframe for their recoveries.

“Unfortunately, Brennan Cox has sustained an ankle injury,” Merriman said.

“We’re just going through the process of collecting all the scans and information and we’ll know more in the coming days as far as timeframes.

“Karl Worner picked up a calf injury and again, we’re just going through the process. He’ll be missing this week.”

Midfielder Will Brodie is expected to spend at least another week on the sidelines as he recovers from an ankle injury.

Brodie last played in the WAFL on 1 July for Peel against South Fremantle.

“Will’s been carrying an ankle injury over the last few weeks,” Merriman said.

“He missed last week’s game. We’re just going to see how he progresses later in the week and make a call on his return.”

Tall forward Matt Taberner is nearing his return to football, listed as one week away as he recovers from a back injury.

“It’s great for Matt, he’s been training really hard as he always does,” Merriman said.

“The plan will be to have a good session this weekend and return to play on some managed minutes next week.”

Defender Josh Draper (adductor) and forward Tom Emmett (concussion) are both tests to play this weekend.

“Josh has been going really well, he had a great footy session but had a small adductor strain last week. He’ll be up for game time this week,” Merriman said.

“Tom Emmett has progressed really well and we plan for him to play this week.”
