Key position tall Aine Tighe has been ruled out of this Sunday’s Pride Round fixture with Sydney at Fremantle Oval.

Initially named in the extended squad of 24 to face the Swans, Tighe will now miss the match after not pulling up as expected following Thursday’s training session.

Tighe missed last weekend’s clash with Melbourne due to knee soreness and was listed as a test to return against Sydney.

AFLW Senior Coach Lisa Webb explained that the risk of playing Tighe in the final home and away game of the year was not worth taking given her history with knee injuries.

The Irish key position player made her AFLW debut in round one of Season 7 last year, after two consecutive seasons afflicted by back-to-back ACL injuries.

“She was listed as a test yesterday, she got through training but pulled up a little sore,” Webb said.

“With previous injuries related to her knees, we thought with the long-term prospect of Aine at the Club that we would go more conservative for this weekend and give her the week off.”
