Fremantle have bolstered their key forward stocks ahead of the 2024 season by adding Patrick Voss to its rookie list.

Fremantle announced the signing of Voss to the Club on Thursday evening ahead of the pre-season supplemental selection period (SSP) deadline on Monday.

The 20-year-old has been training with the Club since December last year and has impressed with his forward craft and marking ability throughout the pre-season, kicking multiple goals during the Club’s match simulations and intra-club games.

Voss spent two years on Essendon’s list and won the Club’s VFL best and fairest in 2023 after kicking 30 goals from 17 games.

Fremantle Head of List Management David Walls said the 194cm Voss adds valuable depth to Fremantle’s key forwards.

“He’s trained well all summer and has kicked goals in our match sim in the past two weeks,” Walls said.

“He’s forced his way onto our list with output and attitude.

“We don’t have a huge amount of key forwards on our list and he fits a list management need.”

With forward duo Sebit Kuek and Josh Corbett placed on the Club’s long-term injury list for 2024, Fremantle had two list spots available but chose to only fill one, saving the second for the Mid-Season Rookie Draft.

Walls thanked other train-ons, Max Beattie, Sam van Rooyen and Daniel McKenzie for their time at the Club over the pre-season.

“They all showed AFL qualities with their attitudes and appetite for work,” Walls said.

“Unfortunately, Dan was injured during his time at Fremantle and we wish him well.

“Max and Sam did the whole pre-season and should be commended on their outstanding summers.

“We’ll watch them closely and hopefully they will force themselves onto AFL lists.”

Voss will now take part in the Club’s intra-club match at Victor George Kailis Oval on Friday morning.
