Dual Brownlow medallist Nat Fyfe believes he is building confidence in his body week-on-week, with the former captain playing every game so far in season 2024.

Fyfe is averaging 21.7 disposals, 6.5 clearances (elite), and 11.2 contested possessions (above average) to begin the year.

“It’s nice to be here, having played all six of those games (to start the season) and I feel each week I build confidence and form,” Fyfe told the media.

“It’s nice going into the start of a week feeling good, being able to train and continuing to work with the other midfielders in our team and improving.

“Mostly it’s the impact that we have as a group and how I feel physically out there in terms of what I think I’m capable of at the time, and what my body allows me to do.

“I think if you look at our season other than the weekend, we’ve been really consistent with our performance.”

Following the Club’s 37-point loss to West Coast at RAC Derby 58 on Saturday, the former captain was stern in his belief that the game was an outlier.

“We’ve put together a really consistent performance with our preparation, we’ve been well coached and the work that we put in over the pre-season is stacking up,” Fyfe said.

“The game over the weekend was not the case.

“RAC Derbies are always scrutinised a little bit higher, particularly ones where there is an expectation that you are going to win, so I understand that things are a bit magnified at the moment.

“We look for trends, and our trend so far this season has not been reflective of what that game was.”

With the Club now sitting 3-3 after a promising start to the season, Fyfe was adamant the group was looking to respond this Saturday against the Bulldogs in the Len Hall clash.

“We don’t hide behind any excuse but there is a cumulative effect of playing in big games and not getting the results, and we probably need to acknowledge at some level that we probably didn’t come back from Adelaide as well as we would have liked to,” Fyfe said.

“We will look to take the learnings and move on quick.
