The Fremantle Football Club is pleased to announce the appointment of Graham Kerr and Nicholas (Nick) Ellery to its Board of Directors.

The pair bring a wealth of knowledge and strategic acumen to the Fremantle Dockers, strengthening the Club’s leadership with seasoned expertise in finance, legal and risk management.

Kerr, currently the CEO of South32 and formerly CFO of BHP, has extensive experience in finance and leadership, having significantly reshaped company portfolios and led substantial corporate transformations, including the notable demerger of South32 from BHP.

His strategic leadership, financial acumen, and commitment to sustainability, diversity, inclusion and innovation will be invaluable as the Club navigates future opportunities.

Kerr’s appointment is part of a planned process and enables proper succession for the current Finance and Infrastructure Committee Chair (and Vice President), Craig Carter, whose term concludes in November 2024.

Joining the Board alongside Kerr is Nick Ellery, a Barrister and noted expert in legal and risk matters particularly as they pertain to health and safety, workplace injuries and employee relations. Ellery’s appointment introduces a critical skill set that will enhance the board’s capabilities in governance, legal and risk matters, ensuring the Club remains at the forefront of both opportunity and compliance.

Fremantle president Chris Sutherland expressed his enthusiasm for the appointments.

“The addition of Graham and Nick are important strategic appointments to ensure our board has the requisite skills necessary to lead the Club into the future,” Sutherland said.

Kerr and Ellery join current Board Members Chris Sutherland (President), Craig Carter, Colleen Hayward AM, Tony Grist, Andrea Hall, James Clement, and Sasha Pendal.
