Fremantle Reconditioning Coordinator James Grierson said defender Brennan Cox is just one week away from making his return to football following his rehabilitation from the hamstring tendon injury he received in round one.

“Coxy (Cox) has had a pretty significant hamstring tendon injury that we saw in round one,” Grierson said.

“He’s tracking along really, really well for the size of that injury.

“He’s probably another week away (from a return to football) just to get through a little bit more football and strength training to make sure he is ready for the backend of the year.”

Young winger Nathan O’Driscoll has had an estimated return to football timeline confirmed following his progression to an on-legs program.

“Drissy (O’Driscoll) has just begun his on legs program after about four to five weeks off legs,” Grierson said.

“He will be another five to six weeks away while we build him up through footy."

In other positive news, Ethan Stanley, Matthew Taberner and Ollie Murphy are all tests to play.

“Ethan’s (Stanley) tracked along really, really well now post that ankle surgery and is actually a test to play this week,” Grierson said.

“If he gets through training, he will be available.

“Tabs (Taberner) will be a test (to play) coming out of the concussion protocols, getting through full training and without any symptoms he will be available.

“Ollie Murphy is good (with) that little hip niggle. He’s in line to play this week if he gets through training as well.”
