Fremantle AFLW High Performance Manager Tom Sutherland provided an injury update ahead of the Club’s season opener clash with Port Adelaide on Sunday, with a short injury list leading into Round 1.
Sutherland confirmed defender Madi Scanlon will be unavailable this weekend, due to rolling her ankle a few weeks ago, with her return to play timeline still to be determined.
“Madi unfortunately rolled her ankle a few weeks ago,” Sutherland said.
“We’re still yet to determine a timeline for her return, and unfortunately she won’t be available for this weekend.”
Sutherland provided a positive update on key forward Áine Tighe, who is making strides in her ACL rehab journey, after rupturing the ligament in her right knee in the early half of the 2024 NAB AFLW Season.
“Áine’s going along pretty well – she’s had her few small setbacks over the course of her ACL journey but she’s a true professional and we’re hoping to see her soon in the near future,” Sutherland said.
Defender Holly Egan pulled up well following her ACL surgery last week, after sustaining the injury during Fremantle’s Match Simulation against the West Coast Eagles on 26 July.
“(Holly’s) going well. We’re absolutely devastated for Holly and luckily, she’s got a lot of family and friends that are supporting her at this time.
“We’re definitely supporting her as much as we can in the acute stages of her post-surgery management.”
