Fremantle key forward Áine Tighe has unfortunately suffered another right knee injury during the Club’s clash with Melbourne on Sunday.

Tighe was ruled out of the remainder of the game at three-quarter time.

The injury appeared innocuous and occurred in the final minutes of the third quarter as Tighe went to change direction.

Fremantle High Performance Manager Tom Sutherland provided an update on Tighe, with the Club still requiring further information to determine the severity and understand a clear timeline.

“Really disappointing for Áine – she had an episode on her knee throughout the game,” Sutherland said.

“At this stage we know the ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) was involved, we just don’t know what the severity is at the moment.

“For now, we’ll just put our arms around Áine and support her as much as we can.”

The Club have a clearer timeline for midfielder Orlagh Lally, who has missed the past two rounds of football with foot soreness.

Orlagh Lally

“We know a little bit more about Orlagh’s foot,” Sutherland said.

“It’s in quite a high-risk area of the foot, so we’re just making sure everything is okay.

“If she continues to track the way she is, it’ll be about five to six weeks away.”

Sutherland also provided an update on utility Gabby O’Sullivan, who won’t be available this week after not being named in the side last week due to foot soreness.

“Gabby O won’t be available this weekend, but we’ll get her back running this week, back to football training, and hopefully available next weekend,” Sutherland said.

Defender Madi Scanlon has unfortunately been ruled out for the remainder of the season with a quad injury.

Scanlon was unavailable for the early half of the season with an ankle injury, before suffering a quad injury that has unfortunately held her back from being available to play.

“Unfortunately, Madi had another episode on her quad late in her stage of rehab,” Sutherland said.

“It looks like unfortunately we won’t see her for the rest of the year.”
