Fremantle have confirmed their final team of 21 to take on the Adelaide Crows in a must-win Round 12 clash, this Sunday 2 November, with the side going in unchanged for the final round of the home and away season.
Tunisha Kikoak, Dana East, Gabby Biedenweg-Webster, Laura Pugh and Sarah Verrier have been named on the interchange bench.
Fremantle’s three emergencies for the clash are Amy Mulholland, Evie Parker and Holly Ifould.
Gabby Newton has been named in the midfield alongside Aish McCarthy, Kiara Bowers, Mim Strom in the ruck, and Meg Kauffman and Phil Seth on the wings.
Newton spoke to media on Thursday morning and praised the side’s midfield group, and touched on how much she’s enjoyed working alongside her teammates.
“I think we’ve been really lucky this season to have such a strong outfit, especially in that midfield,” Newton said.
“It’s been incredible working with Aish Mac, Turbo and Easty when she’s come through, and to see that develop since Easty’s come back into the team.”
Newton said it was the side’s determination to bounce back and commitment to trademark efforts that gives them a chance at finals.
“I think we’ve learned over the whole season that we need to be able to anchor in and focus on what we can control, and unfortunately at the start that came with a few tough lessons,” Newton said.
“I think the way we have attacked the season since then, staying anchored and focussing on what we can control has been a great growth from our group and I actually think it’s built perfectly up to this weekend.
“As Webby said, there’s so many results that need to play out and no matter what, we’re just really excited to get another opportunity on the weekend.”
The last time Fremantle and Adelaide met, the Crows won 49 (7.7) to Fremantle’s 12 (1.6) in a 2024 Semi Final clash.
“I think we’re both hotly contested teams and I was actually watching the showdown back and that was a really good game of AFLW,” Newton said on the match-up with Adelaide.
“There’s so many match ups across the ground that you could look at, but we’re just going to bring our a-game because we know we have to, so it’s going to be a lot of fun.”
The game will be broadcast live on 7mate and Fox Sports, and streamed live on Kayo, Binge and 7plus from 2pm WST.
