Fremantle Football Club’s first-ever April AFLW Junior Draft Day, proudly supported by RAC, brought a sun-soaked, footy-filled afternoon to Victor George Kailis Oval at the Club’s Cockburn HQ on Wednesday 15 April.

More than 140 excited participants from Pre-Primary to Year 6 enjoyed a fantastic two-hour sundowner event packed with skills, fun and memorable player interactions.

Following RAC’s elevated partnership with the Club in October of last year, they joined as the inaugural partner for this event, generously supporting the day and running a members’ competition that saw 50 lucky families attend free of charge.

As the club’s official road safety partner, RAC’s two activations; the RAC Rescue* Experience and RAC’s Hot Shot Challenge educated participants with life-saving road safety knowledge and awareness. The airbrush tattoos and inflatables playground added huge energy, with each participant enjoying a goodie bag on departure which included a family pass, football, hat, water bottle and stickers.

Over 20 AFLW players were on hand across the Oval leading activities, coaching skills and finishing the afternoon with a meet-and-greet and signing session for participants.

AFLW captain Ange Stannett closed out the day drawing out the winner of a 2025 AFLW signed guernsey.

Feedback from families from the day was overwhelmingly positive.

“It was such a positive experience for girls in footy. I love that my girls got to meet so many of the AFLW players - they had the best time.”

“My daughter's dreams were made, getting to play footy with Hayley Miller.”

“Our family is originally from the Philippines… Seeing her participate and being part of this amazing sport and this wonderful Freo community has been an amazing milestone for our family. Thank you, let's go Freo!!!”

“Great fun filled arvo!”

A huge thank you to RAC, our AFLW players and everyone who came down to VGK Oval and take part in our AFLW Junior Draft Day.
