Fremantle have made one change to their emergencies for Sunday’s clash with Richmond at Optus Stadium.

Defender/midfielder Connor Blakely has been added to Freo’s list of emergencies, replacing midfielder Brett Bewley.

General manager of football Peter Bell said the change was made after Fremantle’s Friday afternoon training session, which commenced at 3.30pm WST following team announcement at 2pm WST.

“Due to the fact that teams had to be finalised prior to our main training session at Optus Stadium, our match committee met following training and decided to adjust our emergencies,” Bell said.

Bell added that he expects to see forward Cam McCarthy continue to work hard to reclaim his place in Fremantle’s starting 22 after his omission for Sunday’s team.

“We replaced Cam McCarthy with Brennan Cox in our team as Brennan offers us increased flexibility as he can play forward and back,” Bell said.

“Obviously, Cam will be very disappointed but we know he will go back and train very hard this weekend and press his claim at the first available opportunity.”
