The Fremantle playing group are enjoying each other’s company both on and off the field in 2019, according to versatile Fremantle midfielder Reece Conca.

Speaking to media on Monday, Conca pointed to the relationships built away from football that have translated to strong performances on-field this season.

“Every football club is different but since I got here in November to now, I feel we’ve come a long way as a brotherhood,” Conca said.

“We have built some really strong relationships off the field and on the field.

“We are really playing for each other and it’s quite noticeable in our football.

“We will continue to grow that and keep developing in every aspect that we can.”

Conca said the bonds had strengthened across the entire club, the playing group and coaching staff alike.

“We get up to a fair bit of stuff behind closed doors and it’s just about building those relationships,” Conca said.

“We are getting around each other in more meaningful ways.

“We are building that trust and even the coaching group have been fantastic with that.”

Conca believes the timing of Freo’s bye round was a blessing for the playing group, as they return eager for the challenge against Port Adelaide this weekend.

“It came at a good time for us and we’re back feeling refreshed,” Conca said.

“It’s one of those years, there is some really good footy being played and it’s quite an even competition.

“Port are a great outfit and we’ll spend the week gearing up for that.”

Conca also shared his excitement of watching a fully fit Stephen Hill and Harley Bennell in full flight on the training track.

“They are exceptional players…and it’s exciting to have those guys back,” Conca said.

“I played a lot of junior footy with Harley, everyone has seen him at his best and knows what he can produce.

“He’s doing everything right off the field and I can’t wait to have them back in purple.”
