Injury update: Ryan a week away

Injury Update 13. 8. 19 Jason Weber has the injury list coming out of Freo's clash with the Saints

Luke Ryan is expected to be available for Fremantle’s final round clash with Port Adelaide at Adelaide Oval next Sunday, according to high performance manager Jason Weber.

The defender sustained the injury to his right hamstring as a consequence of receiving a cork to his left quad against the Western Bulldogs in round 19.

“Luke’s progressing really well, that hamstring that came secondary to the cork a few weeks ago has progressed nicely,” Weber said.

“At this stage he’ll train this weekend and we’ll look forward to getting him back in the team next week.”

Young forward Brennan Cox is also expected to be available to play next weekend.

“Brennan’s timing is looking similar to Luke’s,” Weber said.

“He’s passed some KPIs from this week. He had a good session over the weekend, so a strong week this week and we should have him available for match committee next week.”

Weber said that defender Nathan Wilson and midfielder Stephen Hill have more rehabilitation work ahead of them before they can return to playing.

“Nathan’s toe is progressing pretty slowly,” Weber said.

“At this stage we’re just continuing to monitor it to see how he progresses on a week-to-week basis.

“Stephen is coming off some quad damage a couple of weeks ago, he’s moving along nicely and progressing in his program.”

Both defender Tobe Watson and ruckman Scott Jones are listed as a test, with the pair likely to return to football via Peel this Saturday against Swan Districts.

“Tobe did some damage to his knee two weeks ago,” Weber said.

“He handled the weekend training session very well and we look forward to getting him into training on Thursday night.

“If he progresses through that, we’ll push him on to match committee.

“Scott injured his sternoclavicular joint, it’s quite a painful injury. He’s trained well this afternoon and he should be available for match committee.”
