Hill thrilled to keep climbing at Freo

Hilly commits to Freo Stephen Hill has signed a contract extension with the club.

Experienced Fremantle midfielder Stephen Hill has agreed to terms on a two-year contract extension which will see him at the club until at least the end of the 2021 season.

After being limited to three games in 2019 due to injury, the talented wing man is confident he can emerge from his most difficult season to date and return to his best football.

Hill said he was delighted to be continuing on as a Fremantle Docker.

“I’m very excited to have another two years with this great club. I’ve been here for 11 years now and I love the playing group,” Hill said.

“I feel like we’re a young group and I’m excited to be a part of the next couple of years and, hopefully, we can see some success.

“It was a pretty easy decision to stay with the club and to get another two years.

“I’ve had a rough couple of seasons with injuries but I’m confident I can get them right and I’m excited to play some footy again.”

The 29-year-old said he would make the most of the off-season break as he looks to fully rehabilitate from the quad issues that have kept him sidelined in 2019.

“I think with time, it’s going to be better for next year. I’m confident I’ll get it right and I’ll be good to go in 2020,” Hill said.

“At the moment, I’m just taking it easy being the end of the season.

“Over the off-season, I’ll be doing my full running so I’ll be right to go for a full pre-season.”

Fremantle list manager Mark Micallef said that he was confident that Hill’s injury concerns were behind him.

“Stephen is obviously a big part of the Fremantle Football Club and we’re really happy to see him commit for two more seasons,” Micallef said.

“His work ethic has been first class and we’re confident he’s over his injury concerns.

“Stephen is a very popular member of the group and we think his best football is ahead of him.”
