With apologies to afl.com.au's Damian Barrett, we’ve popped on the reading glasses and run our eyes over Fremantle’s 2020 NAB AFL Women’s fixture.

If

Kiara Bowers got 19 tackles against the Cats in 2019 …

then

she’ll be fired up even more to start the 2020 season. Turbo’s 19 tackles against the Cats in 2019 were two off an AFLW record.

If

you thought the men’s RAC Derby rivalry was something special …

then

wait till you see the AFLW teams go head to head. West Coast have 13 former Freo Dockers players on their list and we know the girls on both sides are looking forward to this big game at Optus Stadium!

Freo will return to Optus Stadium in 2020

If

travelling isn’t your thing …

then

it’s good to be a Freo Docker early in the season. This is Freo’s third straight game in Perth and second at the Fremantle Oval where they went unbeaten in 2019 – including a 33-point win against the Pies.

If

you have a thing for history …

then

pencil this one in! Footy is back at Moorabbin Oval (RSEA Park) – a ground that has hosted 15 different V/AFL clubs through 254 games between 1965 and 1992. This will be the first time Fremantle (AFL or AFLW) play at the ground.

If

you like Pina Coladas and getting caught in the rain …

then

maybe find something else to do? Perth averages only two rain days in March and we don’t serve Pina Coladas at Freo home games. What we do have is a great family friendly fun at the home of Fremantle football! So come on down to our heartland and take in the Freo atmosphere, get your face painted, enjoy the live music and get amongst the loudest fans in the AFLW. Also, there’s the footy. Also, bring a footy for the post-match kick-to-kick! Also, maybe the Freo Markets serve Pina Coladas?

If

the trend is your friend …

then

the trend is not our friend. Every clash between these teams has been won by the home side, so as the away team, Freo will be fired up to break their drought at VU Whitten Oval.

If

there is a great competitive rivalry building in the AFLW …

then

it’s this one. Freo have fought out two nail-biting wins by under a goal in the past two seasons against the Dees. This year sees the return of Daisy Pearce after giving birth to twins, and you can bet she’ll be looking to be at her best for this one.

If

you want to put a roof over Freo this season …

then

this might be the only way. Freo will be fired up to take on the Blues after their painful loss in last year’s prelim. And (if the AFL allows it) this will be played out of the summer heat under the roof of Marvel Stadium.
