Fremantle senior coach Justin Longmuir said his side will use the final two weeks of the home and away season to prime their performances ahead of the finals series.

Speaking at his Wednesday morning media conference, Longmuir said Friday night’s meeting with the Crows and Round 24’s clash with Carlton were two tough match-ups.

“We want to make sure that we use the next two weeks against teams that are going really well and play finals-like footy to get us in good order,” Longmuir said.

“We’ve tried not to get too far ahead of ourselves all season, and it is a tricky one.

“You come to this part of the season and so close to finals, we're clear on top of the ladder, so it is hard to stay in the moment.

“We've got to make sure we do that and make sure that we apply ourselves and give our best chance to perform well against Adelaide.”

Longmuir stated that the side took learnings from last Saturday’s tight loss to Melbourne, reviewing largely the final quarter and how to improve given the team’s recent success in closing out games.

“It's an area that we've grown so much in this year,” Longmuir said.

“When we fell behind, I thought we lacked a bit of composure.

“But when we've been in those situations throughout the year, we've been able to stay really calm.

“It wasn't everyone. It was just some critical moments, and I think we need to understand that with four minutes to go, and you're behind, you're going to get four to 10 opportunities with the ball.

“We only needed to make the most of one of them, but we rushed some of our great opportunities and didn't make the most of any.”

Longmuir confirmed skipper Alex Pearce would return to the side after being managed last round and revealed that youngster Murphy Reid was in doubt after copping a nasty knock against the Demons.

“He's in a bit of doubt. It's a tricky one,” Longmuir said.

“It's not groin soreness; he got a hit in the nether regions and we're just monitoring it.”

Fremantle’s full team will be released at 4.20pm WST on Thursday.
