Fremantle milestone defender Luke Ryan has expressed his love and admiration for the Club for giving him a career which has seen him reach the 200‑game mark on Friday night.

Speaking following the 24‑point win over the Crows in his milestone game, Ryan said he owes everything to Fremantle.

“I haven't really reflected yet, I will probably once my career ends,” Ryan said.

“I owe Freo the world. They put their trust in me, and I can't thank them enough.”

Fremantle’s number 13 ironically became just the 13th player in Club history to reach the 200‑game mark in Club colours, saying the buzz of the passionate Purple Army post‑game is what he loves playing in front of.

“We wouldn't have had some of these games without these fans,” Ryan said.

“Listen to them now. Fifty‑five thousand and an AFL record. We love them.”

Fremantle will now face Carlton at Marvel Stadium in Round 24, with the Club securing top spot and the minor premiership with Friday night’s win.

When questioned if he and some of his teammates would use the opportunity to rest before their finals campaign begins, Ryan was adamant the team still wants to play to find the perfect form before September.

“We’ve got the week off the week after that, so we need to start getting into some form and play some okay footy,” Ryan said.

“We need to start lifting a little bit more because, like you said, we’ve got a big couple of months coming up.”
