Sydney will host Fremantle at the SCG in this year’s second Preliminary Final on Friday 18 September.

Following Friday night’s victory over Geelong in front of a boisterous Purple Army, Fremantle booked a ticket to a Preliminary Final for the first time since 2015, when the Club faced the Hawks.

The Preliminary Final will commence at 7.40pm AEST at the SCG, with the winner of the clash booking their spot in the 2026 Toyota AFL Grand Final.

The Preliminary Final ticket onsale will commence on Monday 14 September at the following times:

Member Priority Window: 8am to 12pm (AWST)
General Public: 1pm (AWST)

Fremantle fans will have the chance to watch the team train at Cockburn ARC Oval on Tuesday 15 September from 9am before they leave for Sydney on Wednesday.

The last time Fremantle and Sydney faced off was in Round 18, with Freo running away 38-point winners after a nine-goal final quarter performance.

Freo went goalless in the first half but kicked 100 points in the second half, with goals raining down on Optus Stadium in the Club's annual Starlight Purple Haze Game, proudly presented by South32.

Midfielders Andrew Brayshaw (25 disposals and nine inside 50s), Caleb Serong (28 disposals and seven clearances) and Murphy Reid (28 disposals and five inside 50s) were instrumental in the second-half fightback.

Grand Final Ticket Ballot

Now that the club has qualified for a Preliminary Final, members will be required to register for the 2026 Grand FInal ballot through Ticketek should they wish to purchase a ticket to the 2026 Toyota AFL Grand Final.

On Tuesday 15 September, members will receive an email confirming their priority group, registration timeframe and eligible barcode(s) for registration.

Ballot Registration information

The Member Grand Final Ballot will be held on Wednesday 16 September, 8am – 5pm AWST (10am - 7pm AEST).

This year, all registrations can be made within this window. There are no individual priority group times.

The only way to secure the opportunity to purchase a 2026 Toyota AFL Grand Final ticket is to register for the ballot, even if you have a Grand Final Upgrade.

For the 2026 Toyota AFL Grand Final, the number of tickets available for Club Members to purchase is less than the total number of Members. Fremantle, in conjunction with the AFL, aims to provide a fair system for members wishing to purchase tickets through a ballot ticketing system.

It does not matter what time a member registers within the designated timeframe, as all registrations will be randomised within each priority group to determine the order in which tickets are allocated.  

Members with a Grand Final Upgrade are still required to register in the member ballot, even though you are guaranteed the opportunity to purchase a ticket.

Please note during this finals period, our Membership team is receiving a higher-than-usual number of calls and emails, so wait times may be longer than expected.
