Fremantle have signed 191cm winger Dominic Bedendo as a delisted free agent from VFL Club Port Melbourne.

The 24-year-old has signed a two-year deal with Fremantle and will move west following an impressive VFL campaign as a hard-running, athletic winger.

He’s also shown his ability to hit the scoreboard with 35 goals this season, including five hauls of three goals or more and one five-goal bag against North Melbourne.

Bedendo previously spent four years on the Western Bulldogs list after being selected with pick No.55 in the 2020 National Draft. His time at the Dogs was injury-riddled and he only played two AFL games before being delisted at the end of the 2024 season.

Fremantle Head of Player Personnel David Walls said signing Bedendo as a delisted free agent was a great outcome.

“We’ve been watching Dom really closely since he returned to the VFL as a mature-age player,” Walls said.

“He’s performed strongly as an athletic, hard-running winger. His size makes him an aerial threat and he also has good agility.

“The trade with Richmond for Nathan O’Driscoll gave us an additional draft selection. Rather than wait to see whether Dom would still be available in the draft, we decided to secure him now as a delisted free agent. As a result, we haven’t had to use that pick.

“We’ve added Pat Voss, Corey Wagner and Oscar McDonald to our list from VFL clubs in recent seasons and we’re confident Dom adds to our wing stocks and depth, which we felt was important.”

Bedendo will join Fremantle for pre-season training next month.

The AFL’s Free Agency period closes on Friday 9 October, while the 2026 Telstra AFL Draft will be held on November 19 and 20.

Fremantle currently holds draft selections 17, 38, 58, 61, 76 and 94.
