Jesse Hogan has been cleared to make his debut for Fremantle after being named in the 26-man squad to face the Gold Coast Suns on Sunday at Metricon Stadium.

Brandon Matera, who was unavailable for selection in last Sunday’s win again North Melbourne due to suspension joins Taylin Duman, Mitch Crowden and Stefan Giro in the squad.

General manager of football Peter Bell said the all clear for Hogan’s selection in the 26-man squad was based, in the first instance, on advice from the club’s doctor and psychologist.

“Jesse’s health and wellbeing will continue to be paramount, so before any consideration was given to his selection we relied on advice provided by our doctor and psychologist.

“Once we had the approval of our medical team, we were able to proceed to a discussion at match committee where the decision was made to select Jesse in the 26-man squad for Sunday’s game.

“Jesse has certainly let us know that he is ready to play and his team mates are keen to run out with him but the decision was always going to be based around the medical advice.”

Hayden Ballantyne will miss Sunday’s game due to a hamstring injury sustained in the fourth quarter of the round one win against North Melbourne.

The final 22 for Sunday’s match against the Suns will be announced via fremantlefc.com.au at 2pm (WST) on Friday afternoon.
