Fremantle captain Kara Donnellan has been selected in the 2017 Virgin Australia AFL Women’s All Australian Team following an impressive season in the inaugural NAB AFL Women’s competition.

Donnellan’s season reaffirmed her status as one of the game’s strongest female players, highlighted by her game winning 24-disposal, eight-tackle and two-goal performance against Carlton in round five.

While Donnellan was Fremantle’s only representative in the final 22, Dana Hooker, Ebony Antonio and Kirby Bentley were selected in the initial squad of 40.

Donnellan was named as a part of the midfield that also included Melbourne’s Daisy Pearce, who was named as the captain of the inaugural All Australian side.

Adelaide’s Erin Phillips, who was also awarded the Coates Hire Goal of the Year award, was named as the team’s vice-captain.
