Fremantle youngster Darcy Tucker says Freo have an exciting future ahead of them after Saturday’s 83-point win against Brisbane on Saturday.

Freo went into the game against the Lions with nine players with less than 50 games experience, and Tucker said there were positive signs all over the ground.

Ballantyne bullish on Freo youngsters

“It’s great to see and there are some great signs for the future,” Tucker said.

“Connor Blakely was really good inside with his hard ball and that’s just what he does best.

“Lachie Weller down forward really had some class with four goals and also had a fair bit of the ball too.”

Tucker finished with a career-high 19 disposals as well as two goals against Brisbane, and was aided by the confidence displayed by key forward Matthew Taberner.

"We'll continue to invest in our youth: Lyon"

Taberner took his 2016 goal tally to 13 with a five-goal haul against the Lions and Tucker said having the 198cm forward playing so well was a big help for the entire team.

“It’s great for the whole team,” he said of Taberner’s form.

“When we’re kicking into the forward line we can trust him to compete, give a contest and it showed tonight with five goals.

“We have that trust in him and when he’s on, he’s definitely on.”

While Fremantle’s forward line was firing against the Lions, Tucker said much of Freo’s success could be attributed to the ball movement coming out of defence.

“Our ball movement has been something we’ve been working on and it’s good to be executing it the way we’d like,” he said.

“It starts with guys like (Lee) Spurr, (Hayden) Crozier and Danyle Pearce and it really kicks our attacking movement off and contributes to a good team performance.”
