A “PURPLE HAZE” is forecast for round one when Fremantle take on the Western Bulldogs at Subiaco Oval and all members and supporters are encouraged to ‘dress up and dig deep’ for this one special match.
The annual Starlight Purple Haze Game, proudly supported by Fremantle Ports, was officially launched on Wednesday when Purple Haze Ambassadors Aaron Sandilands, Ryan Murphy, Des Headland and Chris Tarrant invited eight Starlight Wish children to join them for a special ‘Purple Haze’ experience at Fremantle Oval.
The Starlight Wish children were given a tour of the club by the players (Chris Tarrant and Des Headland) before they undertook a special training session with the four player Ambassadors on Fremantle Oval.
The children then met some of Fremantle’s other stars, including Matthew Pavlich and Rhys Palmer, and were given the opportunity to get autographs.
The Starlight children and their families then enjoyed a morning tea while watching the players undertake a training session from the club's boardroom balcony.
Sophie who is a huge Fremantle fan, will toss the coin before bounce down for her beloved team really enjoyed her morning at Fremantle Oval.
“It was great. I never thought I would ever have a chance to train with them, see their change rooms, and everything,” she said.
Sophie was equally excited about her Starlight Purple Haze match day role.
“I feel very excited about tossing the coin at the game for Matthew Pavlich and I'm going to be on TV.”
Launched in 2003, the annual Starlight Purple Haze Game, proudly supported by Fremantle Ports, has raised almost $190,000 to date for the Starlight Children’s Foundation as Fremantle members and supporters turn Subiaco Oval into a sea of purple for this one special game and donate generously to raise much-needed funds for seriously ill and hospitalised children in Western Australia.
