Simon Lloyd shares his notes on all Fremantle listed players in the WAFL

Viv Michie (PT) 30 disposals (19 kicks, 11 handballs) 6 tackles
Viv played inside mid demonstrating very good effort winning the contested ball and his tackling really stood out. He had ten clearances and generally used it well in tight. He showed strong bodywork towards his opponents.

Alex Forster (PT) 10 disposals (4 kicks, 6 handballs) 2 marks
Alex played as a back and went into the forward line in the final quarter. He made some good decisions under pressure with the ball, he just needs to build on his contested ball in the air and at ground level.

Jesse Crichton (PT) 11 disposals (8 kicks, 3 handballs)
Jesse played his third game in ten weeks, so he is really looking at building up his game from a conditioning point of view. He played as a high defender, demonstrating some good defensive running patterns with his strong attack and intensity being good early in the game. We will look at building upon last weeks game going into next week with Jesse recognising that he needs to become a key play maker coming out of defence.

Tanner Smith (PT) 19 disposals (10 kicks, 9 handballs) 7 marks
Tanner played in defence for the first three quarters and went into the forward line in the final term.  The positives for Tanner were that he played with good defensive positioning particularly with his attack in the aerial contest. When he went forward he presented strongly as a leading target with two shots on goal kicking the second. Tanner is continuing to build his game and we are happy with his progress.

Josh Mellington (WP) 14 disposals (11 kicks, 3 handballs) 7 marks, 3 goals
Josh had an impact in the first and fourth quarters where he looked dangerous around the forward 50, winning contested ball and kicking 3.3 for the day. One of those goals came from a really hard offensive run where he took a mark in the forward 50 and kicked the goal. He also had a big set shot in the final quarter to win the game for West Perth. We feel that Josh is building his game now and he just needs to ensure his defensive pressure is where it needs to be going into this week.

Josh Simpson (EF) 12 disposals (5 kicks, 7 handballs) 1 goal
It was a quieter day for Josh this week. Late in the game he kicked a good goal and was involved in a good ground ball and followed it up with run and carry.  He did spark late in the game when a win was a possibility but Josh needs to get back to playing consistent football over four quarters, which he will focus on this  weekend.

Max Duffy  (EF) 10 disposals (8 kicks, 2 handballs) 1 goal
We were pleased with some aspects of Max’s game where his ball use inside of 50 was creative. He impacted a number of times at stoppages and kicked a nice running goal to put East Fremantle in front in the dying minutes.  We were happy with those efforts but we are just working on the frequency of those efforts in the coming weeks

Cam Sutcliffe (EF) 16 disposals (8 kicks, 8 handballs) 4 marks, 2 goals
Cam provided run and carry for East Fremantle. He defended well and covered for teammates. His stoppage work was a real positive playing a mixture of inside mid and on the wing. He engaged physically and impacted around the contest assertively by winning first possession. He ended up kicking two goals one from 45 metres late in the term. We were really pleased with the impact he had as an inside mid.

Alex Howson (EF) 19 disposals (13 kicks, 6 handballs) 10 marks
Alex started the game forward and was shifted back late in the third quarter. He did gain possession when he read the flight of the football and spread laterally. Again, the focus for Alex in the coming weeks is his aerial and ground level contents.
