David Mundy was determined to play in Fremantle’s 73-point win over North Melbourne, despite having 20 stitches above his eye during the week.

Mundy wore a headband all game but played without compromise, gathering 27 touches, after copping a nasty blow to his head against the Bulldogs last Sunday.

“I saw a surgeon on Monday and he stitched it back up,” he said.

“He said it’ll heal but just take it easy.

“From that discussion my mind was made up, I was going to put my hand up to play.”

Mundy’s eye was still swollen on Saturday night.

“I had 20 stitches all up, with four inside, behind the skin,” he said.

“The headband was just precautionary to cover it, I had no issues at all."
