“I was watching the AFL.com draft tracker on my computer, then mum called me upstairs to get me to show her where to watch it online.” Wood said.
“By the time I was up in the study I was getting messages from my friends congratulating me on getting picked up.
“I had to ask one of them which team had taken me.”
Wood said that getting picked up was a bit of a shock, but he was happy to be given the opportunity of playing at Fremantle.
The 190cm tall forward weighs 75kg, his focus for his first pre-season is pretty clear.
“I need to put on a bit of condition, and get my tank up,” he said.
“I’m ready to work hard and get stuck into a tough pre-season.”
