Fremantle young guns Nat Fyfe, Clancee Pearce and Michael Walters have been selected in a squad of 40 players from which fans will be given the opportunity to select a best 22 players under the age of 22 representative team.

The AFL Players’ Board selected the initial squad of 40.

To be eligible, players must be aged 22 or under for the entire 2013 season, including finals.

Fans have the opportunity to vote via Facebook and Twitter to decide the final 22, which will comprise of six defenders, six midfielders, six forwards, one ruck and four on the interchange.

Fyfe is available as a midfielder, while Pearce is eligible for defence and Walters forward.

Voting opens via Facebook on Wednesday 21 August and closes on Wednesday 4 September, while fans can vote via Twitter from 27-31 August.

The final 22under22 team will be announced at the AFLPA’s MVP awards night on Tuesday 10 September.

In the lead-up to the MVP awards a retrospective 2012 team will be announced and the nominated captain will present the cap to the 2013 captain on stage.
