Gold Coast's impressive form has continued after defeating Fremantle by 13 points in an arm-wrestle at Metricon Stadium on Saturday night.

Scores were level at three-quarter time before the Suns broke free thanks to Alex Sexton's freakish goal from the boundary and another quick snap from Ben Ainsworth.

The 10.4 (64) to 8.3 (51) result was the Suns' third straight win since the 2020 season restart.

Fremantle were left without captain Nat Fyfe after he injured his right hamstring late in the third term.

It was an entertaining first half at Metricon Stadium, with no behinds registered by either team for the first time in VFL/AFL history.

It could be a busy Sunday for the Match Review Officer after a half-time melee between both teams saw emotions spill over, with Fremantle forward Matt Taberner having his jumper torn to shreds.

The Suns will now travel for the first time this season to take on Geelong at GMHBA Stadium next Saturday, while Freo will face Adelaide at Metricon Stadium on Sunday.

Goalkicking masterclass on show
Goalkicking practice has paid off this week with both the Suns and Freo on fire in front of the big sticks. Both sets of players didn't make the goal umpires move in the first half, with both brilliant snaps and clutch set-shots on display. After 13 straight goals, Sun Sam Day was the first blemish for the day after he hit the post just three minutes into the third term, before Freo’s Jesse Hogan followed suit with a poster a few minutes later.

Rowell in fine form
It's hard to believe this was just Matt Rowell's fourth game in the AFL. Last year's No.1 pick is proving his red-hot form has been no fluke and he made his mark on the game with 20 disposals and two goals.

Superstar skipper suffers hamstring injury
Fremantle will be waiting on scans for Fyfe, whose night ended early with a right hamstring injury. Fyfe pulled up short while running late in the third quarter and headed for the bench where he had ice immediately applied to his hamstring. The Freo captain had a relatively quiet outing by his lofty standards, finishing with just 11 disposals.
