Morabito hurt his left knee at training last Friday - the same knee that required a knee reconstruction in December 2010.
“It is disappointing news for him,” Ibbotson said.
“He was coming back really strong and was looking forward to playing footy again.
“He’s had a year-and-a-half out already and to go down again is not great for him.”
Ibbotson said Morabito would receive support from everyone in his life and from those in a similar boat to him.
“He’ll get a lot of support from the club, the players and his family and, hopefully, he’ll come back as good as gold,” he said.
“He’ll look to guys who have been through experiences like this before, guys who have had season-long injuries.
“He might even look outside the club at guys who have been through the same sort of thing.
“We’ll get around him and be as close and helpful as we can.”
