To all members with RAC Derby game access,

If there is one thing we have learnt from 2020, it is to always hope for the best scenario but prepare for every other possible scenario.

We had high hopes for a return to footy at Optus Stadium in front of a capacity crowd for the first and only RAC Derby in the 2020 Toyota AFL Premiership Season.

But instead, we will prepare and deliver a reduced capacity crowd following the WA Government’s announcement today that the introduction of Phase 5 eased restrictions will be delayed.

We are disappointed for our supporters, but we understand the need for the decision to help ensure the health and safety of everyone in our State.

We are still in consultation with the State Government, Optus Stadium management and the AFL to finalise the revised capacity figure and allocation breakdown for the game on Sunday, 19 July.

What I can confirm is, due to the reduced capacity and social distancing requirements, we will need to implement a new ticket registration and allocation process next week for eligible members.

WHAT HAPPENS NOW?

There is nothing you need to do just yet.

The ticket registration and allocation process for eligible members will take place next Wednesday, 15 July.

You will receive an SMS and email from the club on Wednesday with a unique code and link to register for a ticket.

You will be able to use up to six unique codes in one transaction to allow you to sit with family and friends. We encourage you to communicate with the members you wish to sit with in the lead up to Wednesday, to establish who will coordinate your ticket registration.

To help manage the process, there will be two registration windows.

The first registration window will be for members who Platinum Pledged or donated 75-100 per cent of their membership as part of the Forever Project.

The second window will be for members who Silver Pledged or donated 50 per cent of their membership as part of the Forever Project.

The times for these registration windows will be confirmed by 5pm WST, Monday 13 July.

Please note this is a ticket registration and allocation process, not a purchasing process.

IMPORTANT: SEATING CATEGORIES WILL BE ALLOCATED AT RANDOM

Due to the reduced capacity and social distancing requirements, the AFL and Ticketmaster have advised that the ticket registration and allocation process will need to operate similarly to an AFL Finals Series. Unfortunately, this means you may not be seated in the same seating category as your current membership.

We acknowledge that this change is not ideal and will be disappointing for our members, as we know reserved seating is a big part of your match day experience.

We look forward to our State entering Phase 5 of eased restrictions so we can all enjoy heading to the footy the way we used to.

I hope this addresses your most immediate queries in regard to accessing the RAC Derby.

Our Membership Services phone lines will re-open Monday from 9am to assist with any further questions. Alternatively you can email membership@fremantlefc.com.au

For members who purchased RAC Derby tickets through the member pre-sale on Monday 6 July, you will receive communication direct from Ticketmaster early next week with further information relating to your ticket purchase.

Thank you once again for your understanding and support.

Kind regards,

Simon Garlick
