Sutcliffe to debut, Hill in
Find out the Freo Line-up, which includes debutant Cameron Sutcliffe
Veteran defender Antoni Grover will play his first game of the season, while Kepler Bradley and Paul Duffield have also earned another crack.
The players omitted from the team that was defeated by Collingwood last weekend were Alex Silvagni, Jayden Pitt, Zac Clarke, Lachie Neale and Nick Suban.
Hill has recovered from an ankle injury sustained in round 11 and will add important speed around the ground.
Sutcliffe was recruited with pick No.71 in the 2011 NAB AFL Draft and will be the fourth first-year player to debut this season for Fremantle, joining Hayden Crozier, Lachie Neale and Lee Spurr.
Senior coach Ross Lyon praised Sutcliffe’s recent form in the WAFL for helping win himself a debut.
“He was fantastic last week in the WAFL with 34 possessions,” Lyon said.
“He’s an elite runner and he’s worked really hard.
“It’s exciting to have another debutant.”
Lyon said Sutcliffe, who will wear the number 33, was having a strong pre-season before injury set him back.
“He was having a great summer,” Lyon said.
“The injury put him behind, but as he’s come back to full fitness and form, he’s commanded being picked, so we’re really excited about that.”
Bradley will play a similar role to the one Clarke has been performing as a forward and backup ruckman.
With Zac Dawson still out with a knee injury, 201-gamer Grover will get his opportunity to break back into Freo’s back six, which has been solid all season.
After a stint on the sidelines, Grover has bounced back to good WAFL form for Subiaco in recent weeks.
