Adelaide coach Brenton Sanderson expects injured trio Kurt Tippett, Jason Porplyzia and David Mackay to be fit to play against Fremantle at AAMI Stadium on Saturday.

Tippett hasn’t played since sustaining a concussion - his third in five weeks - in Adelaide’s win over West Coast in round 17. The powerful forward completed the Crows’ main training session on Wednesday, and will be named in the team to tackle Freo.

“Kurt trained well today. I’m confident he’ll play and we’ll name him in the side. But a decision on Kurt might be made as late as Friday,” Sanderson said on afc.com.au.

“He’s still got to be medically ticked off by our doctor. At this stage, he’s really keen to play.

“He did all the session today and looked really sharp. He’s had a good week on the track and been doing a lot of training one-on-one. I think he’s had enough time off now, that he feels really good in his body and his mind."

In-form goalkicker Jason Porplyzia was substituted at half-time of last week’s match against Essendon with shoulder bruising, but trained on Wednesday and is also in line to play against the Dockers.

“We think ‘Porps’ will play this week as well. (Subbing him out of the game last week) was just a bit of precaution I guess with his history,” Sanderson said.

“We just didn’t want to take any unnecessary risks with him. He’s such a valuable player for us. He’ll have to tick another box or two before we play him for sure … but it was just a bit of bruising.

“He’s done a fair bit of tackling and contact work. He’s really confident he can go out and play well.”

Wingman/defender David Mackay missed the thrilling win over Essendon with a broken toe. Mackay joined Tippett and Porplyzia at the Club’s main session, and could also return to the team this week.

“Mackay trained today as well,” Sanderson said.

“It’ll be a tough week at selection because we’ve got a few guys ready to come back into the side.”
