Heading into its sixth year the Starlight Purple Haze Game, proudly supported by Fremantle Ports, has become a permanent fixture in Fremantle’s schedule each year with all fundraising from the game going directly to the Starlight Children’s Foundation.
A record result was set at last year’s game with over $40,000 fundraised which resulted in $15,000 going towards the Starlight Escapes Program and also saw five wishes granted, including Jessica’s.
As this year’s Wish Child, Jessica who is a huge Fremantle fan, will not only get toss the coin before bouncedown for her beloved team, but the wish will also see her and her family head off to Queensland for a holiday on the Gold Coast
The 2008 Starlight Purple Haze Game was officially launched at Princess Margaret Hospital today when Purple Haze Ambassadors Aaron Sandilands, Ryan Murphy, Des Headland and Chris Tarrant, as well as Senior Coach Mark Harvey, visited children in the Starlight Express Room.
There was plenty of Starlight magic spread throughout the hospital by Captain Starlight and the Fremantle players however nothing could prepare the children for the surprise visit from Captain Matthew Pavlich who made a special stop into the Starlight Express Room on his way home from training.
The ‘Purple Haze’ will hit Subiaco Oval on Saturday 29 March when Fremantle take on Hawthorn in Round 2 when volunteers will be out in force collecting donations from our generous members and supporters, so DRESS UP and DIG DEEP!
The match day will also see Jessica and eight other Starlight children get exclusive access into the rooms before the game to watch their favourite Fremantle players warm up for the clash against the Hawks in Round 2.
The Starlight Purple Haze Game generates much needed funds that will benefit seriously ill children of WA through the Starlight Children’s Foundation.
