Star defender Luke Ryan hopes for a massive send-off from an eight-week stint at home when Fremantle play their final home game of the season against GWS at Optus Stadium next Saturday.

Ryan said the 24,714 fans in attendance were instrumental in Freo’s comprehensive 31-point win against Sydney on Saturday night.

Following next week’s clash, Fremantle will head to Queensland where they will play their final four games of the season.

“We love the fans, they’re so loud. It doesn’t feel like 25,000, it feels like there’s 60,000 in there” Ryan said.

“They help us every week. I’m going to miss playing in front of them and, hopefully, they come along next week as they help us a lot.”

Ryan was thrilled with the performances of his teammates in the win, including forward Matthew Taberner, who continued his streak of scoring at least a goal in every game in 2020 with two goals.

“He’s been in unreal form, Tabs,” Ryan said.

“He’s dominating and just manhandling everyone he’s playing on.

“It’s massive for us backs, we’ve got full confidence in him that he’ll mark it, if not halve it. For him to get on the scoreboard is really good and he’s in really good form.”

Ryan also praised fellow defender Nathan Wilson’s recent form, as well as the backline, who conceded just 19 points in the clash.

ALL THE HIGHLIGHTS

“Its good to see Willo in form, his dash of half back is really crucial for us,” Ryan said.

“His metres gained - he gets the ball out of the backline and his smarts and leadership down there really helps us.

“To keep them to two goals, as a backline grou, that’s pretty solid.

“It’s not just us but the whole team putting pressure on the ball, making it a lot easier for us. The boys stood up week in week out and I couldn’t be prouder.”
