The Fremantle Dockers and a WA football institution have joined forces, with Burley Sekem coming on board as the club’s new official apparel partner.

Burley Sekem has been manufacturing football equipment and apparel since 1907, and in 2021, will return to the AFL on field market.

While its footballs are synonymous with the WAFL, Burley Sekem also has official licenses with all the major sporting codes in Australia including the AFL, NRL, FFA, Wallabies and Cricket Australia.

As well as uniting with a WA-based company, all of Fremantle’s game day guernseys will be manufactured in WA.

Senior coach Justin Longmuir said he was excited to see Fremantle link up with Burley Sekem.

“I remember growing up kicking Burley footys back in Koorda and it’s great to see the club now aligned with Burley Sekem,” Longmuir said.

“We are a proud West Australian club and it’s only fitting that the jumpers the players wear when we run out on game day are made in WA.”

Fremantle CEO Simon Garlick added that he looked forward to a long and successful partnership with Burley Sekem.

“On behalf of the club, I would like to welcome Burley Sekem to the Fremantle family,” Garlick said.

“Burley Sekem have a great reputation in WA football and we’re excited to be sporting their name on our guernseys for 2021 and the years to come.

“While we are incredibly proud to have our game day jumpers manufactured in WA, having a local producer also provides us with some extra certainty and security. As we come out of a season that was easily one of the AFL’s most unpredictable, going local provides us with benefits that can’t be underestimated.”

Burley Sekem’s sponsorship manager, Glen Metherell, was pleased to see Burley Sekem further expand in the WA market.

“For over 100 years Burley Sekem and Western Australian football have been inextricably linked,” Metherell said.

“With our rich history of tailoring quality apparel, joining forces with the Fremantle Football Club, an AFL Club in our home state that shares many of our values, is a natural partnership and the next step of our evolution in the apparel market.

“We are extremely pleased to now be on the same exciting journey with players, staff and supporters as Fremantle build towards what can only be great times ahead.”

Fremantle’s 2021 Burley Sekem guernsey is now available for pre-order at the Fremantle Dockers team store with merchandise expected to be in stock in early December.
